Good morning beautiful beans! I finally caved and bought the new Sleek Make Up cream contour kit after swatching it about 20 times at work because I figured if I didn’t like it I could at least write a review on it. So here we go!
I got the shade light, obviously, because I am a ghost. Now, the first thing I kept in mind before trying this was that Sleek specifically make products with darker skin tones in mind so I was already prepared for this not working for me at all, and i’ll be perfectly honest; at first I didn’t like it. But I gave it a second shot because I figured it wasn’t fair to hate it without giving it a fair chance. Second time? Pleasantly surprised! I first tried it with nothing underneath except moisturizer and primer, and I feel like my skin looked dull and patchy, but the second time I tried it with Revlon Colorstay foundation underneath and it blended out so much smoother and looked a lot better!
I recently discovered that I prefer cream contour for a more natural everyday look and it’s so hard to find a cream contour in the drugstore that I had to try this since I love everything else I’ve tried from Sleek so far. Let’s jump into the more in depth stuff; prepare for my face!
I decided to blend my face in two different techniques so I could figure out which way I preferred and which way looked better. I prefer the damp sponge for my nose only because with a brush it just slipped straight off, but for the rest of my face (especially the hollows of my cheeks) the brush did a much better job of blending everything together and looking natural.
So as I initially expected the palette was a little bit too dark for me but I think it could work! The highlight shades weren’t pale enough for me but the contour shades blended out quite well without looking too orange; although the palette overall is warm toned and as i’m cool toned it’s a little more difficult to work with. As for the overall shade range it’s actually pretty good for a “light” contour!
Personally i’m really impressed by this palette and i’m glad I added it to my collection, plus i’m happy that there is finally a drug store cream contour palette for pale skin that doesn’t make you look like an Oompa Loompa!
(The only problem I had was that it’s too warm toned for me personally and i’m ghost white so it’s not light enough to highlight with.)
Thanks for reading! 💕
