SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY: Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette!

Hello beauties! I’m trying out a new schedule for my blog so I can try to post more often! And today I wanted to try Spotlight Saturday for the first time! Spotlight Saturday will be a weekly post where I focus on one product that I love and give you my opinion and reviews! So to kick things off i’ll start with the ABH Modern Renaissance palette since i’ve been saying I would post about it for ages! PS this may be a long one so get comfy if ya wanna read the whole thing! (This would have been posted on Saturday but my internet kept dying but i’m only 2 hours late! And hey, it’s probably still Saturday somewhere, right?)

When I first saw this palette on Instagram (because it was everywhere and everyone and their grandmothers had it) I wasn’t too hyped for it to be honest, maybe I was just sick of seeing it or not overly impressed by the looks people were creating (no offence) but I just thought “I don’t know, I probably have all the shadows separately so I don’t really need it”. Oh, how wrong I was. I finally caved, plus I worked my butt off so had some money to treat myself, so I decided to grab it… and it was sold out. 😔 BUT I managed to get it off a different website (here, for my UK loves ~but I just saw that it’s sold out don’t hate me~) as well as some other goodies so yay! Admittedly as soon as I opened it I fell in love, and wanted to punch myself for not buying it sooner. The packaging is so pretty, and the actual palette is so soft although it does pick up dust and dirt quite easily because of the type of fabric but it doesn’t bother me much, personally.

The palette comes with a double ended brush, a flat side and a blending side, which is really nice and it’s surprisingly good! I usually use the flatter side to pat on the shimmery shades and the blender side to… well, blend! It also has a full size mirror too which is always helpful!

There are 14 shades in the palette, 10 “matte” shades (i’ll explain the use of ” in a sec) and 4 shimmer shades. They’re buttery and soft shadows, very pigmented and I haven’t noticed any fall out when using them!

Obviously the swatches say more than I ever could about how good this palette is, and if you love warmer colours then you’ll definitely love this! I guess this would be a perfect palette for Autumn/Fall (depending on what you call it) because of the darker shades but I personally wear any colour any season so this is pretty much been my go to palette since I got it. I’ve created a few looks using this for my instagram if you want to check them out or I could make a whole post with all the looks I can do with this palette if that’s something that sounds interesting! (I’ll probably do it anyway though to be honest)

PRICE- I paid £41 for the palette, which I think is reasonable for what you get, it’s obviously not drugstore price so I wasn’t expecting it to be cheap! You get 14 shades and I use all of them regularly so it’s not like I only use some, and the colour range means I can use it for more ‘dramatic’ looks as well as neutral enough for everyday, so I definitely feel I get the most out of it!

QUALITY- The shadows are stunning, both in shade and pigmentation. They go on opaque, blend out easily and stay on all day. The shimmery shadows aren’t chunky at all, and if you use fix+ on them they look gorgeous! I have noticed that most of the matte shades aren’t fully matte, or at least they didn’t swatch matte on my hand in the pictures, they have a slight shimmer in them, but you don’t really notice it when they’re blended out on the eyes.

Alright overall I love this palette, just like everyone else in the world! I feel like ya don’t need it, but if you wanted to treat yourself this would be a good choice to go with!

Thanks for stopping by, see ya next time! 😘 x
