REVIEW: Kat Von D London Calling!

Hey guys! So you may know that Kat Von D isn’t available in the UK yet (I have ordered her Ink Liners from Sephora before but I couldn’t justify the shipping and customs charges for what I was getting so I haven’t ordered anything since, unfortunately) but it’s arriving at Debenhams in October! 😁 Goodbye wages!

To prepare for the launch and to give a little taste of what’s to arrive, Debenhams and Kat Von D created this exclusive set! You can get it here (I think it’s limited edition though so I don’t know how long it’ll be available!)

What ya get:

MINI TATTOO LINER in TROOPER.

MINI STUDDED KISS LIPSTICK in LOLITA.

Look how tiny & cute!

MINI EVERLASTING LIQUID LIPSTICK in DOUBLE DARE.

I’ll start with the liner. I’ve never been able to do a successful cat eye, ever. I’ve usually use tape but even then it’s still wonky or bumpy and just looks odd. The first time I tried this, perfect wing. I’m in shock at how amazing this is. I think it’s because it’s a tiny brush instead of a stiff felt type nib, so you get a lot more control and you don’t have to put much pressure on it at all so it’s a lot easier to not screw up! Admittedly when I first swatched it on my hand it didn’t come out very dark at all, I thought i’d maybe got a dud or something so I was a little bummed out but when I tried it on my eye it came out blackblack. Insane, I don’t know how I did anything before this beauty!

Next up; the lipstick! When I first opened it my initial reaction was something along the lines of “OH MY GOD IT’S SO TINY N’AWWWWW!” but then I grew up a little and opened it 😝 I knew it was the well loved shade Lolita, but I’m not sure if it’s the same shade as the liquid lipstick one (I don’t think it is) and I instantly loved it. It’s such a smooth formula and goes on really opaque. It doesn’t last amazingly long, but it did survive my 4 hour shift today which is longer than most! The colour is gorgeous, just as I expected, it’s like a nude/my lips but better shade but just a bit darker, which I personally like. Plus the packaging is super cute!

Last but certainly not least: Double Dare Everlasting Liquid Lipstick! Ohhhhh, this is so beautiful 😭 The colour, the formula, the packaging, everything is so wonderful! The colour is a perfect everyday nude shade but with a slight kick of dusty pink, and the formula is smooth and comfortable. I’m not sure if i’m just too in love with it but I feel like it makes my lips look so much softer than most liquid lipsticks, most make my lips look dry and wrinkly after a while but this seemed to stay looking smooth the whole time I wore it? It goes on opaque and dries fairly quickly. Overall, I think i’ve found a new addiction! 💖

Alright so that’s my review over, I just wanted to talk about Kat Von D herself. If you knew me when I was 13-16 you’ll know that Kat Von D was my idol, so much that I bought red lipsticks (none of which suited me because I was a makeup noob back then) and wore huge sunglasses & dyed my hair black. I first saw her on LA Ink and fell in love, seeing such a badass woman tattooing and just generally being rad as hell was such a huge deal to me, I’d always wanted tattoos so seeing this beautiful lady not only doing them but covered in them too was perfection in my eyes. I feel like she was the first person to inspire me to wear makeup properly, or at least find an interest in it, because of how pretty her eyes always looked and how she was always rocking a bright lip, so when I found out she was creating her own makeup line I nearly died of happiness (and then of sadness when I found out I couldn’t get it here) but I still followed her makeup line and got daily inspiration from her and her talented fans. I’m super excited that now I get to join in on showing my love for her artistry through my own (well, i’m not artist but ya know what I mean) and I apologise in advance to my bank account 😘

Alright that’s it for now, thanks for stopping by! See ya next time! x
