I picked up the new Rimmel Fresher Skin foundation recently and it’s such a new and refreshing concept that I couldn’t wait to try it out!
New Fresher Skin Foundation with SPF 15, light breathable coverage for an even, natural-looking, fresh finish that stays shine-free all day!
It’s available in 6 shades, most Rimmel foundations come in about 5-12 shades so this is quite a small selection, maybe they’ll bring out more shades depending on how well they sell? Although just by checking the site for their shade selection I have noticed that they don’t really cater to the darker skin tones, unfortunately.
It claims to be shine free, but I don’t know if it’s just my skin but it did not look shine free on me at all, which I didn’t mind because I didn’t buy it for that (I didn’t even notice the shine free bit until I just researched it) but if you’re oily this might not work for you. It is light and breathable, it felt like I wasn’t wearing anything at all, and it lets my skin show through instead of being a thick full coverage mask. It’s SPF 15 which is always nice, although my moisturiser has SPF in it so this is just a nice top up, and it didn’t give off any flashback.
The texture of this foundation is odd. I’m not really sure how to explain it but it feels like a velvet mousse? It’s not as solid as the Maybelline dream matte mousse, but it’s not fully liquid like other foundations. It’s hard to describe, the best thing to do is just go touch it, it’s so bouncy! 😛
I got the lightest shade (who’s shocked???) Light Porcelain which is a little bit too dark for me but since it’s such a light formula it blends out fine. The smell is… difficult to put my finger on (wow Kels your reviewing skills are phenomenal today!) but all I can think of is that it reminds me of sunscreen… I don’t know if that’s good or not but it’s not a bad scent, fresh if anything!
You can see compared to my hand it’s a little dark but it’s the lightest foundation I’ll ever find at the drugstore so I’ll take it! It has a neutral undertone so it doesn’t make me look like a Wotsit, or a Cheeto, if you don’t have Wotsits where you are… or are they everywhere? I digress.
I’ve tried it twice but the first time I was in a rush so didn’t get a chance to see how I liked it before I had to run out the door, so to be completely fair I tried it again to try it out properly; I like it!
sorry for the resting bitch face!
Firstly I didn’t know how to go about applying this, I’m used to pumping foundation onto my hand and patting it on with a sponge so with this I opened it and thought “…uhhhh… how do I get it from the tub onto my face??”. I decided to scoop a bit out onto my hand and applying it like normal and it worked fine that way, but the only concern I would have long term is hygiene because of the amount of dipping/scooping. It blends out fairly easily and I feel I didn’t have to apply a lot to get the coverage I wanted. I wasn’t expecting perfect flawless coverage because that’s not what it promises, it looks like my skin but better! I can still see my little imperfections but they’re less obvious and my face just looks more even! I did notice that it lasted my entire work day when I tried it the first time, although I was only at work for 4 hours and I did set it with loose powder, so I will have to do a proper wear time test and I’ll update when I get around to that but from what I can tell so far it is fairly long lasting.
Alright, that’s it for now, thanks for stopping by! See ya next time! x
